EMDR THERAPY

 

Trauma is any terrifying event that instantly changes the world as we know it, leaving us helpless and emotionally overwhelmed. Trauma  causes things to get “stuck” in our brains and when it is not resolved it can greatly impact daily functioning.  Until your brain can process the trauma, it keeps trying to make sense of what happened and is constantly on guard for any warning signs that it may happen again.  Many people with a trauma story experience physical symptoms such as nausea or headaches or may experience flashbacks or have strained relationships.   EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy allows the brain to process what happened and heals it from emotional distress which frees you up to live a more healthy, adaptive life.  To learn more about EMDR click here.
