COUPLES

Once we understand someone’s story we can understand the strategy they use when feeling scared, threatened, or vulnerable.  Many times in our most intimate relationships we react during times of conflict in ways that we think will protect us—perhaps in anger or by going silent.  However, this only leads to more pain and disconnect from our loved ones.  Beneath the anger or numbing out lies the heart of the matter, the vulnerabilities and fears we don’t feel safe to share.   Being locked into these negative interaction patterns keep us stuck while blocking authentic emotional connection.  In therapy we can create new patterns that allow for corrective emotional experiences and safe, secure connection with your loved one.  I use the EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) model when working with couples.  To learn more, click here.
